Nakd Bars

Do you ever crave something sweet in the afternoon or just feel like you need a little pick me up? Do you wish there was something you could have that was both yummy and good for you at the same time? Well Nakd bars are exactly what you've been looking for!

I came across these bars one day when I was browsing through my local health shop. There cute packaging and flavours like 'Ginger Bread' and 'Banana Bread' made me want to try one. I bought one thinking there is no way they are going to taste half as good as they looked. Well I was wrong and have been buying these bars in bulk ever since.

Nakd Bars are healthy and nutritious and still taste great. They are packed full of natural ingredients like fruits and nuts. The ingredients are never baked and are just 'smooshed' together to make the bars.

You should also know that Naked Bars are:
  • Gluten fee Wheat free Dairy free
  • Has no added sugar Vegan & vegetarian friendly
  • One of your 5 a day! Deliciously simple!

I love love love these bars and they have completely replaced chocolate bars in my diet. I eat these on my lunch, I bring them to the cinema and always have one in my bag in case I get a snack attack during the day.

I don't have to feel guilty about eating them as I know they are full of YUMMY goodness!

Oh I forgot to mention that they now come packed with protein too. They have added delicious crunchy soya pieces to their original recipe. These new 'CRUNCH' bars not only taste amazing they will keep you fuller for longer too!

With the protein they are also great for a post workout snack. I try to always have one in my gym bag ;-)

They are made by a company called Natural Balance Foods so head over to their site and take a look at these little pieces of heaven for yourself.

Hope you guys like them as much as I do!

Skin Types & How To Spot Them

To be able to care for your skin and to have it look its best you need to know your skin and what type it is. So I am going to tell you the signs of each skin type so you will be able to treat your skin with the love it deserves x

There are 5 different skin types:

Normal
Dry
Oily
Sensitive
Combination

Normal Skin
Normal skin is often known as balanced, because it is neither too oily nor too dry. It looks health, plump and is free from blemishes. While this skin type looks perfect it still needs as much care as other types as neglect can lead to dryness.

Spot it by:

Free from blemishes
Healthy colour
Pore size is small/medium
Skin texture is neither too thick nor too thin

Dry skin

Dry skin is caused by a lack of oil production in the skin. The use of harsh facial products, the effects of weather conditions can also cause it, if you are taking medication or it can just be aging that is causing the dryness.

Spot it by:

Small pores
Skin texture is thin, with patches of visibly flaking skin
Tightness in the skin
Can feel rough to touch
Prone to white heads

Oily Skin

Oily skin is the opposite of dry skin it is caused by the over-production of oil in the skin. This over production can be caused by a number of factors. During puberty a change in hormonal levels can increase the production of oil or a diet rich in fats and oils can also contribute to this skin type.

Spot it by:

Enlarged pores
Black heads
Skin texture is course & thick
Blemishes
Skin can appear sallow
Skin can appear shiny throughout the day

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin reacts easily to both external and internal factors. People that suffer from sensitive skin can have in cases have multiple food allergies as well has having sensitivities to cosmetic products. A number of factors can result in sensitive skin such as aging, medication and hormonal changes.

Spot it by:

Blotchy, pink/red patches
Rashes can appear and become painful
Irritated, itchy skin
Broken veins around the nose and cheeks
Dry, flaky, tight or sore skin

Combination Skin

It is also possible to have a combination of any 2 or 3 of the skin types mentioned above. Identifying the differences on your skin can take a bit of practice but a very common combination is oily on the t-zone and dry/normal on the cheeks. There are products made specifically for combination skin so you don't need to buy multiple products for each area.

Spot it by:

  • You may have slightly oily T-zone and drier cheeks with dry patchy spots
  • You may also have larger pores on your cheeks and possibly your forehead
  • This skin type can have medium pores, a smooth and even texture, good circulation and a healthy color
I hope this post will help you figure out your skin type and enable you to care for your skin in the right way.
